From 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., RBCA and Richmond Beach Library will host a craft party for neighborhood children to create holiday decorations. Among other craft activities, children will have an opportunity to make cards, which will be handed out to residents at Richmond Beach Rehab during the caroling event later in the day. The Holiday Craft Party will be held in the meeting room of the Richmond Beach Library (19601 21st Avenue NW). This is a free event, compliments of RBCA!
Starting at 4:45 p.m., you are invited to attend the annual Tree Lighting Ceremony at the plaza by the fountain in Richmond Beach Coffee Company’s parking lot (1442 NW Richmond Beach Road). Please walk if possible; limited parking is available in the back of the Spin Alley parking lot.
Enjoy refreshments and music of the season while waiting for Santa to arrive on his fire engine and flip the light switch on the community holiday tree. Residents and visitors to Richmond Beach will be greeted by the tree’s twinkling lights during the holidays as they meander down Richmond Beach Road. This is a free event, compliments of RBCA!
Santa’s workshop will be teaming with Richmond Beach gear packaged and ready for gift giving. This is your last chance to purchase these popular items before the holidays.
At 5:30 p.m., after the Tree Lighting festivities, join your neighbors at the Richmond Beach Rehab (19235 15th Avenue NW) to spread some holiday cheer through song to the residents. While this activity only involves about an hour of your time, it has a tremendous impact on the residents of the rehab. They really appreciate the attention. And that is truly what the holidays are about -caring and sharing. Please join us, even if you can’t carry a tune! This is a free event, compliments of RBCA!
The Christmas Ship festival is a holiday celebration that has been a Pacific Northwest tradition since 1949. Every year, the Argosy Christmas Ship sails to different Puget Sound waterfront communities, over 65 in total. From the flotilla of boats to the crowds of people who gather onshore, this festival is one of the gems of the Northwest.
The Christmas Ship Celebration at the Richmond Beach Saltwater Park (2021 NW 90th Street) is scheduled for a Tuesday in December, 2017 date to be determined. The evening begins at 7:30 p.m. with music on shore by St. Luke School Choir.
The Christmas Ship, followed by a fleet of Argosy vessels, private yachts, sailboats and other small crafts decked out with holiday lights, will arrive off the Saltwater Park at 8:20 p.m. for a 20-minute performance by the Snohomish County Children’s Choir. Gather around a roaring bonfire while joyous voices from the choir onboard the ship serenade beach guests. Bring a flashlight to waive at the ship so they can appreciate the size of their audience onshore.
Complimentary cookies will be served at the RBCA booth on the beach.
This event is provided free of charge and jointly sponsored by the City of Shoreline and Richmond Beach Community Association. Since parking is limited, please plan to walk if possible. For more information contact Sheri Ashleman at email@example.com or 542-9147
