Richmond Beach Saltwater Park, 2021 NW 190th Street
It's Showtime Folks!
Ready-Set-Action! Start off your day with a noncompetitive jog or walk through scenic Richmond Beach with friends, family and neighbors. On Thursday, November 22, meet at the entrance to the Richmond Beach Saltwater Park at 8:30 a.m. for warm up. Parking is available in the park's lower lots. Do not park along 20th Avenue NW or NW 190th Street, which are part of the course. There is no entry fee. Dress for the weather—the show must go on, rain or shine. After a prize drawing and group photo, participants will be off and running shortly after 9:00 and be finished by around 10:00. The course for joggers/runners is 3.4 miles and a shorter 1.6 mile course has been planned for walkers. Simons/Lowe Orthodontics will be providing bottles of water and representatives from Martial Arts Center (formerly Lee's Martial Arts Academy) will be cheering on participants at the finish line.
2012 Theme: Hollywood
This year's theme is "Hollywood." Bask in the glory and aura that surrounds Hollywood. Replicate the glitz and glamor of the film industry. Be Batman, Marilyn Monroe or James Bond—come as your favorite film star, television character or Hollywood personality! You're a super star!
T-shirts to be Sold at Event
Long sleeve T-shirts commemorating the Richmond Beach Turkey Day Fun Run will be for sale at the event. No pre-sales this year. Shirts will be available in adult sizes small through XL for $18 and adult sizes XXL and 2XL for $20. In addition to cash and checks (which are preferred), credit cards will now be accepted.
Make a Donation to Hopelink
RBCA will be conducting a holiday food/fund/gift drive to support Hopelink at the Turkey Day Fun Run. This holiday program stocks Hopelink's Shoreline food bank with extra food so families with few resources can create holiday traditions.
Hopelink collects new, unwrapped gifts for teens grades 6-12 in partnership with the Shoreline PTA Council and the Shoreline Fire Department for Shoreline Christmas. Here, parents and grandparents can select presents to give to the children in their lives. Their goal is to provide at least one quality gift for each teen. Monetary donations are an excellent way to contribute because Hopelink works with local businesses to get discounts and it enables them to purchase "most wanted" items and gift cards.
Help our neighbors in need by bringing either canned food items, a cash donation (make checks payable to "Hopelink") or new gifts for teens. Food items most needed include canned meals, canned meat, cereal, dry beans, fruit (canned or fresh), pasta, peanut butter, rice, soup, tomato products and vegetables (canned or fresh). Please do not include items that have expired, perishables or those in glass containers. Thank you for supporting Hopelink and our neighbors in need!
To make it easy for everyone in the community to participate in this year's food/fund/gift drive, donations will also be accepted starting November 1 at Richmond Beach Coffee Company located at 1442 NW Richmond Beach Road. Either stop by or cruise through the drive through to drop off your donations. Donations will be collected through Thanksgiving Day.
